I wanted to have a little flashback to September 2012. I entered 3 photos in the Morton Pumpkin Festival Photography Show. This would be my 4th year entering and I had never won anything any of the years before. Lo and behold, I won 1st Place in the Amateur Division for my Irish Spirals! It was such an honor!
Not only did I win 1st Place, but I also won an honorable mention for this photo of the Dark Hedges!
It just goes to show, you may be a wonderful artist, but it just takes the right person to appreciate it. Not everyone is going to like your art, but there are plenty of people who do and support you. I've had plenty of rejections, entered multiple contests, didn't get into the Rocky Mountain Artist-In-Residence program, just heard today I didn't get into the Illinois Artisan Program. With all of those rejections, when you do win something, or sell something, or get into a juried fair, it really makes that moment so much better.
Now to the title of my blog post. What does the Oregon coast have to do with this? Nothing, really. :-) However, in a few days I am going to headed there for a photography workshop with Mark Rasmussen of LightChase Photography. I've never been to the Oregon Coast before, but all of the photos I've seen of it, it looks like an amazing place. I plan on posting a daily blog post with my favorite photo (or photos) of the day. For my trip, I have just rented the Canon 70-200mm Lens. It will come in so handy for this trip!
With that, I will leave you with a couple of photos I took last weekend of the plants in my yard. I just love Spring! You can view them also in the Nature album!
