Yesterday, I went to Starved Rock State Park to shoot the ice formations in the canyons. It was the most perfect day for it. It got up to about 46 degrees and with no wind, it felt great. I've never seen ice formations like this so I wanted to get up there before they all melted for the year. Here are just a couple of images I took. You can view more in my Chasing Ice album!
After I went to Starved Rock, I went over to Augustana College in Rock Island for the Environmental Film Festival. There we watched the video "Chasing Ice" http://www.chasingice.com/. This video is about the melting glaciers and how global warming is effecting them. The National Geographic photographer, James Balog put out 27 cameras throughout the world to shoot photos of these glaciers daily. It's really quite amazing and a must-see movie! I left feeling I NEED to save the glaciers! His photography was amazing in the video also.
