October is turning out to be a great month so far and we're only a week into it! Starting October 1st, you can download my photo "Dark Hedges" from Canon's Facebook page as a wallpaper for your computer. I am so honored that they would choose my photo and the recognition is great!
Also this month, I am one of 4 artists featured at Jefferson Street Studio and Gallery for a special event recognizing women in the arts in the Central Illinois area. The gallery is one of 17 other galleries part of the Citywide Celebration of Women Artists. This past Sunday in the Peoria Journal Star, there was an article talking about the events and my "Dark Hedges" photo was one of the pieces of art that was featured! "Dark Hedges" has been getting so much publicity lately, it's been great!
I will have my "Sand Movement" photograph hung at a special CIAO Sparks exhibit. The exhibit runs from October 15 through November 15. times are: Weekdays 10a-4p & Saturdays 11a-2p with an opening reception October 18, from 6p - 8p. It is being presented by the Central Illinois Artists Organization (CIAO). CIAO is a group of more than 60 independent artists who open their studios for First Friday tours to give the public a chance to learn more about the creative process. CIAO members work in a variety of media ranging from painting to glass to wearable art to photography. You can go see it at Prairie Center for the Arts, at 1506 SW Washington Street, Peoria, IL.
What else will October bring???
I haven't gotten to get out and shoot much in the last couple of months. I just ran the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis/St Paul on Sunday. I've spent the last 18 weeks working towards that and now that that's over, I'm really hoping to get back out there shooting. Hopefully you will see more from me soon! In the meantime, go check out the exhibits around the Peoria area!
