On Sunday, I went to Starved Rock State Park in Illinois to get in the last of the fall colors for the year. If you are going to go up there to take photos, make sure you go early, it get BUSY around 11am! I got there at the right time to be able to get shots without a bunch of people in them. I was hoping to get some waterfall shots since we had gotten so much rain the last couple of weeks, but was greatly disappointed! The ground was wet like there was plenty of rain, but I think everything just soaked right now, not a single waterfall was flowing. I was able to get some nice fall color shots, though, so it wasn't a complete waste of a trip.
I'm hoping to get up there again in the winter time to get some winter shots. I've never been in the winter, I bet it's beautiful! There are tons of trails and multiple canyons to hike to. They also have a lodge right there in the park you can stay at, I have never stayed there though. The first time I went, LaSalle Canyon had the most water in it and I get some nice waterfall shots. None of the others were that great and French canyon was just FULL of people, to many to photoshop out!
Where are some great places you go to get your fall color photos?
